I've been going to Oahu regularly over the last several years and this treehouse is such a unique experience. There is a beautiful view of all of downtown coupled with the birds and animals all around you makes this such a serene place. It's not far from downtown but do expect to need a car or a bus since Oahu itself is a pretty car friendly place.
The only things I'd make note of is that this is a treehouse and so unless you sleep like a log you'll be on bird-noise time which basically is dusk till dawn. If you're good with those hours, the birds are beautiful and well worth it. We saw soo many parakeets! The other thing is the treehouse is fully outside so bring mosquito repellent of some sort.
Jose is insanely responsive and super nice, we actually ran into him while hanging out in Kaimuki and he waved us over, was super warm and chill.
There's a lot of great places to stay in Oahu but this place was just next level and I'm soo glad I got to experience this place!
Jose’s treehouse was an awesome experience. We were greeted by his sweet pup, Ruca. The accommodations were so peaceful and serene while looking at downtown Honolulu. Good location to get all around Oahu. Jose was responsive and gave great local recommendations. Will definitely be back!
Great and unique place to stay for those who don’t mind continuous fresh air and have a love for tree, and birds!
Hard to describe, but a truly unique experience. Stunning views. Our favorite part was watching the sunrise in the hammocks on the lower deck. That or Ruca (Jose’s dog) coming to hang out for a bit. Jose was also great — very responsive, gave recommendations, and even drove us to a hiking location we were going to have to walk to. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone.
Quite literally speechless. Such a dream space, impeccably designed and setup. I slept like a baby every night and enjoyed the breeze, the views, the swings, all of it. Bonus- getting to spend time with Jose’s pup! Jose was so warm and kind. Literally zero complaints. I could go on and on about our stay!
If you want a memorable, unique stay in Oahu look no further than this treehouse. Jose was an incredibly kind and gracious host who was very attentive to any needs we had. The location is central to a lot of Oahu activities and offers stunning panoramic views of the city - the listing pics do not do the view justice.

Amazing place to stay, the best tree house created with so much love. The view, the closeness to nature and the time spent in the hammock was something special, would highly recommend.
When you think of the Mahina Treehouse, think luxury eco-lodge. It was mesmerizing being right above Honolulu. The love and care in every inch that went into the Tree house was prevant. The views were other worldly, this is definitely a once in a lifetime experience (unless you come again). The thoughtful details from yoga mats, to the jacuzzi, and hot tea were a bliss.

Nice little cottage with a private path. We woke up everyday to the chirping of the birds. Yoko was quick to respond to our requests. We even got spare snorkeling gear etc. Overall really enjoyed our stay there.
Jose is a great host and provides a great place to stay with ample room. Great patio space to hang out and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Will definitely stay again when I come back to Oahu!

Please believe me when I say do not be the first bit concerned when you read there is no A/C...as I was a little. Our group had family members from 22 to 80 coming in. Trust me......you don't need it and will never miss it! Jose's home is so very very pleasant during the day breezes and cool overnight. Everyone one of us raved about the temperature comfort.
It was the perfect place for our larger group and, hands-down, 1,000% better than all of us staying at a hotel. I/We will definitely stay with Jose again.

Travelers be aware that privacy is very limited in this home with other rentals on the property as well as various people living on property.
Wonderful location and our host was super friendly! Came by a couple of times to check on us and make sure we were will situated. The best part about the house is the location and convenience to almost everything. There's plenty of things to do nearby including: shopping at Ala Moana, going downtown to explore, beautiful nearby hikes, amazing view points, etc. Highly recommend this location for your Hawaii Trip!
So grateful that Zen Atmosphere was available during our visit to Oahu. We were so impressed with the level of thought and care given to making sure not only the kitchen/bathrooms were well equipped with all necessities, but also at how elevated the decor and comfort (we slept so well) were as well. We also really appreciated your responsive communication, local recommendations and even access to your washer/dryer and boogie boards - which is so convenient for guests. It was so amazing to not be in a big resort hotel situation - the tranquility, the sounds of birds, light rain, and the amazing views really gave us a better feel for Oahu. Such a special home and a perfect location too!

We enjoyed our stay here, especially since it was away from the congestion of Waikiki but yet still close enough to everything. The place was clean and roomy enough for our small family. I would stay here again. Jose was a good host and checked up to make sure our stay was going smooth.

Fantastic place that is very quiet yet close to all the action in Honolulu!
I booked this place a year in advanced to spend New Year’s Eve. The house is very spacious and it was close to Waikiki and Ala Moana my two favorite spots for shopping and dining. The view from the house is amazing and it never gets old. You can see the ocean and diamond head. To view the NYE fireworks you have to either be on the tree house or down by the coconut trees. The mango tree blocks the majority of the fireworks from the living room window. The before-mentioned tree house is not part of the Airbnb rental but the guy doing construction kindly gave us a tour. Speaking of construction, that same guy was cutting lumber next to the window of the dining table. Upon arrival, the house was very dusty from the wood dust that infiltrated through the windows. We had to keep wiping down the dining room living room and kitchen and some of the dust got into our food. The main living room was also very dusty and had some dead insects by the window sill. Other than the dust, the house was great and it was large enough to accommodate all of us. We were able to enjoy the amenities such as the gym, musical instruments, hammocks, and slack line. We had a few rainy days but we still enjoyed staying indoors. Backing into the driveway was a little challenging at first but I got used to it after a few times.

It is So big the house and has everything you need. He also has a Range Rover sport which we used and is stunning like the house.
Couldn’t recommend it anymore.

This is a fabulous location. We were thankful to find a quiet location in a nice neighborhood close to so many areas of Honolulu and a short drive to other areas of Oahu. Some days we just walked and walked. The Honolulu Museum of Art, the Manoa Valley, University of Hawaii and even Ala Moana Beach park were walkable (30-50 minutes).
What we especially enjoyed every morning was waking up to bird song. Being above Honolulu we could see the city but not feel trapped in it. Beautiful walks in the neighborhood. And did I mention bird song?
The unit was nicely furnished and provisioned. Good spaces with a back bedroom that was cooler and quiet for a midday nap and a beautiful sunny front area, in and out. Jalousie windows allowed free air movement and we did not miss air conditioning. Ceiling fans in each room.
We had a good month and Jose was a considerate host.
A lovely cottage with cool breezes surrounded by nature. Outdoor and indoor common spaces had thoughtful touches that really made the place feel like a home away from home.

To the average eye the place is not a bad place to stay. I guess I preferred a spotless place to stay for the price I am paying. Overall, the place was comfortable for two people and easily accessible.
Everything you need to have a great time in Honolulu. Plenty of beach toys and amenities, great view, easy parking, laundry, full kitchen, gym. Overall a great place to enjoy a good time and tranquility of Hawaii. This is more for the laid back visit to Oahu, staying away from the tourists and main attractions except when you choose to do so. I recommend this home and hope to stay again.
A great value stay away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas of Honolulu! The unit was exactly as pictured. It had all of the kitchen supplies you'd need to cook simple meals on the hot plate, easy access to The Bus (which is surprisingly easy to use!), beautiful lanai with hammock, and a comfy bed. Jose was a lovely host- very hospitable, and very quick to respond.
One thing to note- there is construction going on at the property outside of the unit during the daytime, and so at times there was noise and odors from that. They kept the work to very kind hours (starting around 10a), so most people who come to Honolulu for vacation won't be affected by it, but since I was in town for work, I spent some daytimes lounging around at home.
You will be in a nice location, super quiet. The room is nice, clean and attractive. Plenty of space. I was met promptly and all my questions were answered promptly.
We enjoyed our stay more than expected. Although we kept ourselves pretty busy around the island it was definitely a plus to sleep in a place that felt like home. The neighborhood was quiet and safe and the hospitality we were greeted with was above and beyond our expectations. If your looking for somewhere to stay that suits your needs on vacation this is the perfect place. The location is close to shopping and the beach and if you want to avoid the hassle of finding parking an Uber/Lyft is cheap. The bed is comfortable, the bathroom is clean and includes some hygiene necessities in case you may have forgotten anything. There is also a burner and kitchen supplies available so you can cook your own meals should you desire to do so. The hammocks were a unique touch and gave that extra vacation vibe. We would definitely stay here again.
Jose is a great host and the guesthouse is five stars! Centrally located just 10 minutes from Downtown Honolulu yet peaceful and comfortable. We appreciated the cozy atmosphere and privacy. The apartment was clean, nicely decorated and had everything we needed. It rained a lot while we were there but that just added to the enjoyment of the location and listening to the rain and watching a little waterfall in the back. In the morning we were greeted by the sound of birds. We stayed 6 nights and found getting around very easy from his location. My husband had some medical appointments and the apartment is just 8 minutes away from Queens. Going back and forth was a breeze. We rented a car, but there is "The Bus" with a stop nearby. Just down the street is Honolulu Museum Art and Spalding House. Nearby are Manoa Valley Hiking Trails, Tantalus Lookout, and Punchbowl. Jose is building the most amazing tree house, we hope the next time we are in Honolulu we can stay there! We highly recommend Jose's place, it's true island style living.
Jose showed us so much Aloha- he was present and helpful but also respected our space. The studio was just right for two of us- private, breezy, clean and quiet. We hope to return next time we are looking for a place in town in Hawaii, and hope to see the epic treehouse when it’s finished.
